Meet walela49:
Hi, my name is Raegan. I'm a mom, wife, daughter, sister, beadworker, seamstress, featherworker, and all-around crafter! I've recently found a wonderful niche selling my native-style crafts to powwow-goers across the US and Canada. Although I do possess enough blood quantum to be enrolled in one of my family's Native American tribes of heritage, I am not an enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe. I always disclose this information when selling my work in order to be in compliance with the Indian Arts and Crafts Act of 1990. I have been beading, designing, and sewing Native American-style dance clothes since 1983, and I have traveled to many powwows in the southwest and enjoy dancing, selling my wares, and meeting new friends. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1997 and my Master of Arts degree in Museum Science in 2000. I have extensive work experience in the collecting, researching, and care of museum quality artifacts. Please feel confident that all my work is original, well researched, and carefully constructed. Why buy from walela49?
I love creating original works of art for dancers and collectors alike! I take extreme pride in my work and never create anything that I would not wear myself. I am primarily self-taught through years and years of experience, and I use top quality materials and supplies in the production of my work. Oddly, I have become quite well-known by my "net-handle" (walela49) thanks to the internet!!! My business in the last 4.5 years has been conducted via powwows.com, email, and Ebay. I certainly enjoy the extra income as I am primarily a stay-at-home mom. FYI: "49" refers to that party after the powwow (not my age; I'm still in my early thirties)!!! Demand for my work often results in a waiting list, so please feel free to inquire, or see my FAQ.
